Hong Kong to amend the safety standards for toys and children’s products

Hongkong hat kürzlich seine Liste der Sicherheitsstandards überarbeitet, um eine detaillierte Beschreibung der neuesten Sicherheitsanforderungen für bestimmte Spielzeuge und Kinderprodukte bereitzustellen. The new standard will take effect on April 1, 2018.
In December 2016 [1], the Hong Kong Government launched a one-month public consultation on its proposal to update the list of safety standards for certain toys and children’s products [2].
On May 19, 2017, Hong Kong issued a press release [3] announcing a list of new safety standards for four broad categories of toys and five categories of children’s products, and the “Safety of Toys and Children’s Products” (section 424 Chapter [4]) made the appropriate amendments. In accordance with the published content requirements, the new standards are international standards or standards for the main economic system (assuming the same, or have been agreed).
On the same day that the press release was issued, the Hong Kong Government published in the Gazette the Notice on the Registration of New Standards in 2017 for the Safety of Toys and Children’s Products (Schedule 1 Und 2) 102 [5]. It is noteworthy that two new standards have been introduced to be implemented. they are, respectively:
– Toy Safety Standard BS EN 71-13: 2014: Smell Chess Game, Makeup Toy Set & Taste Game
– Toy safety standard ISO 8124-7: 2015: Refers to paint pigments
The new standard will take effect on April 1, 2018.
